Welcome to our brand new blog for all things backstage at Theatre Wallay. This Blog will share stories and insights from the production team, actors, musicians, dancers, designers, technicians, and all the other folks who help to make Theatre Wallay happen.
Currently our play in production is “On Common Ground,” an original piece of theatre conceived of, written, and performed by the Theatre Wallay Company in Islamabad. The production is funded by a grant by the US Embassy in Islamabad along with their partners in the US, Ithaca College in Ithaca NY, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland OR, and The Artist’s Rep in Portland, OR.
We are greatly indebted to our sponsors on this project and very excited about what is yet to come! Currently we are in rehearsals in preparation for our tour to Oregon at the end of June, 2017 and residency at Ithaca College in the Fall. In the year ahead we look froward to bringing this production back to Pakistan, reworking the piece for our Pakistani audiences, and touring the country next Fall and in the winter of 2018.
Through this blog you can follow our journey through the eyes of our team, both here in Islamabad and our partners in the US. Most people get a chance to see what happens in front of the footlights for the price of a ticket. This blog offers you a backstage look … and it’s absolutely free! I hope you enjoy this ride as much as we will enjoy sharing it with you.
